Banana Bread

Considering most people will be eating a lot of sweets tonight since it’s Halloween, I opted to make a less-sugary dessert. Just like the Marbled Cake recipe, this recipe has also been in the family for quite a while. However, I will take the credit for being the first one to add chocolate chips to it (of course). Not only is the recipe simple and straightforward, the results are delicious (and guilt-free…except maybe for the chocolate chips)


  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3 mashed bananas
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips


Mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat together the butter and sugar with an electric mixer. Add the egg and mashed bananas; mix well. Add the flour mixture and continue to beat until combined, and then mix in the chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into a prepared bundt pan and bake at 375F for about 30 minutes. Enjoy with ice-cream in the heat of summer or hot-green tea in the chill of winter!
